Minutes of the Regular Mid Bergen Meeting

James Fedorko, Health Officer, called the meeting to order at 4:04 pm who declared it had been advertised in accordance with the Open Public Meeting Act, Chapter 231 of the laws of 1975.

Approval of Minutes from the August 7, 2023, Board Meeting:

Dr. David George called for a motion to accept the minutes. A second motion was made by Paul Viola to accept the minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 7, 2023, as submitted.

Roll Call – All in Favor

Introduction of Bradley Wilson, Esq. from Nowell, P.A.

Bradly Wilson, a partner, and attorney of Nowell P.A located in Hackensack, introduced himself as the attorney representing Mid-Bergen Regional Health Commission.

Financial Reports:

The Health Officer presented the Financial Report for the first, second, and third quarter of 2023, covering the period from January 1st to October 30th. The report indicated a net income of $113,426.62. (Attachment: PROFIT & LOSS REPORT 1–1-23 – 10-30-23).

The Grant Director, Daniel Dabrowski, provided an update on the Enhancing Grant total expenditure, stating that $970,337 has been spent.

Health Officer Report:

James Fedorko submitted his Health Report with the agenda prior to the meeting (Attachment: Health Officer Report August to Oct 2023). There is a need to update Mid-Bergen Regional Health Commissions bylaws, James Fedorko and Dave Volpe will help update the bylaws.

Public Health Planner Report

The Health Planner, Sarah Bombino, discussed two main strategic priorities. The first being Disease Prevention and Control. The second being Health Education and Promotion. She also stated that there has been a 30% increase in Health Programs since the Health Education team has expanded. (Attachment: SBombino_MBRHC_Nov6BMReport).

Old Business:

Tina Mereos, a lifetime resident of River Edge and Health Officer at the Morristown Health Department, expressed interest in joining the Board of the Mid Bergen Regional. There is still no representative for Englewood Cliffs.

New Business:

Tentative proposal to increase employee salaries and municipal contracts by 4%.

Board meeting dates will occur on the first Monday of each quarter.

Adjournment:

A motion to close the meeting was made at 4:50 pm by Paul Viola and seconded by Patricia McHale. All Board members were in favor.
